Bank Statement to Sage Import & Reconciliation Workflows
Sage & accounting / Custom built
Bank Statement to Sage Import & Reconciliation Workflows. The statement. The records. In agreement.
Give statement preparation a repeatable process. I help connect bank CSV exports or statement PDFs to a reviewed, Sage-compatible workflow, with clear rules for extraction, matching and unresolved transactions.

Use the best available source
A bank feed or CSV export may already provide structured information. A PDF extraction layer is useful when a suitable structured source is unavailable or the process depends on statement documents. We assess the existing Sage options before proposing custom work.
The source bank account, currency and period need to be identified. A statement from the wrong account or an overlapping period should be flagged before it becomes an import batch.
Keep transaction direction and references intact
Dates, debit and credit columns, amounts and references need explicit mapping. Different banks describe these fields differently. The workflow preserves the original so the reviewer can inspect an unclear line rather than rely on a transformed value alone.
Where matching is included, we define the keys and tolerances with your finance team. An amount alone is not enough to identify the correct accounting record.
Define what Sage should receive
Importing a transaction, matching an existing record and completing a bank reconciliation are separate operations. The supported route depends on your Sage product, country and edition, and on what is already recorded.
The workflow makes unresolved differences visible and preserves the human review required to complete the reconciliation. It does not imply a universal bank-statement uploader for every Sage edition.

A finance-owned reconciliation queue
Sage bank feeds, document-capture products and import options differ by product and region. We confirm the existing setup first. General-journal import is not presented as a universal substitute for bank reconciliation.
Normalize the source data before the team starts reviewing the records.

A traceable reconciliation handoff

Shaped around your process.
We confirm your source formats, Sage product, existing bank setup and desired outcome. Extraction, import preparation, suggested matching and reconciliation support are separate parts of the scope.
Can a PDF bank statement be imported directly into Sage?
A PDF is not a universal native import format. A supported capture tool or a custom extraction workflow may prepare the data, but the destination and reconciliation route must be confirmed for your product.
Is a CSV export better than a PDF?
A suitable structured export can avoid a document-extraction step. We review the available sources and choose the simplest supported route for the job.
Can matching be automatic?
Agreed rules can produce suggested matches or support defined routine cases. Ambiguous items need review, and the finance team retains final control of reconciliation.
Will this duplicate existing transactions?
The workflow needs an agreed way to identify what is already recorded, control overlapping periods and handle retries. Those rules are tested before production use.
What should I share for an initial assessment?
Your Sage product, country and edition, the bank source format and the outcome you need. Use a synthetic or carefully redacted sample rather than real bank records for the first conversation.
