Case study · HaulerKing · Trucking

HaulerKing's trucks find their next load before they deliver this one.

I built HaulerKing, a trucking company, one TMS where every truck, driver, load, document and invoice flows through a single source of truth. Automation handles the predictable work. Their team handles negotiations, exceptions and the big decisions.

Example loads

Sound familiar?01

Scrolling hundreds of loads. Check calls all day. Invoices rebuilt by hand. Settlements worked out load by load.

Every hour spent moving information between systems is an hour not spent growing the business. So we took the predictable work off the table.

Smarter than the highest rate02

A $2.60 load can beat a $3.00 one.

The system doesn't chase the best rate on a single load. It scores the whole business value of the move, including how well it sets the truck up for the next one. The goal is weekly profit per truck.

Rules per truck03

You set the rules. Every truck follows its own.

Auto-bookMeets every rule and scores above the top threshold. Goes straight into booking.
Your approvalScores in the middle range. Comes to you, with the numbers, to approve.
IgnoredBelow the minimum. Never takes up your time.
Truck 1Regional lanesStays in its preferred lanes
Truck 2Cross-borderPrioritises cross-border freight
Truck 3Short and high-marginShorter loads, better margin
Truck 4Home by FridayPlans loads around home time

Presets cover equipment, location, pickup radius and times, minimum rate and RPM, maximum deadhead and trip length, broker credit and rating, payment terms, driver hours, home time, preferred and restricted lanes, fuel cost and reload potential. Scores update as trucks move, fuel prices change and hours run down.

Plans the week04

Not just the next load. The next three.

The system compares sequences of two, three or four loads and picks the one expected to earn the most over the week, while keeping deadhead, hours-of-service risk and weak markets in check.

One loop, start to finish

  1. 1 · Find

    Loads come to the system

Load boards, customer and broker emails, EDI, APIs and portals. Rate confirmations and tenders are read automatically and created in the TMS. Nobody re-types them.

    Automatic
  2. 2 · Choose

The best truck and driver are matched

Location, equipment, hours of service, home time and current assignment. Top loads book themselves. Middle ones come to you.

    Automatic
  3. 3 · Move

    Dispatch and tracking run themselves

The driver gets every detail on their phone. ELD and GPS update the status, customers get automatic updates, and late-arrival risk is flagged before an appointment is missed.

    Automatic
  4. 4 · Paperwork

    Paperwork files itself

Drivers snap the BOL, POD and receipts. Each one lands on the right load and truck. Anything missing gets requested automatically.

    Automatic
  5. 5 · Get paid

Invoices go out when the POD lands

Rate, accessorials, detention and lumper are added automatically, then sent to the customer, broker, factoring company or accounting. Reminders run on schedule. Seriously overdue accounts come to you.

    Automatic
  6. 6 · Repeat

And the truck is already finding its next load

The settlement is calculated, fuel and miles are logged for IFTA, maintenance and compliance are updated, and the dashboard refreshes. The next load is being scored before this one delivers.

    Loop
Exceptions only06

Normal loads run themselves. You only see what needs you.

Late pickup or delivery risk, hours-of-service shortfalls, detention, breakdowns, route deviations, idle time, missing documents, fuel anomalies. Dispatch works the problems instead of watching every truck.

And instead of opening five systems every morning, the owner gets one summary of what needs attention.

Your morning summary7:00 AM
Truck 7 has been empty too long
Truck 3's driver is close to running out of hours
Invoice T-0981 is well past due
Truck 12 is due for maintenance

Everything else: running normally
Running in the background · 07

Everything else runs itself, too.

Driver settlements

Percentage, mileage or flat pay, stops, detention, layover, bonuses, advances and deductions, calculated from every completed load.

Fuel and IFTA

Fuel buys matched to truck and driver and checked against route and MPG. Miles by jurisdiction organised for quarterly IFTA.

Maintenance

Service scheduled by mileage, engine hours and time. Serious fault codes raise an alert straight away.

Compliance

Licences, medicals, permits, insurance, registration and inspections tracked, with reminders before anything expires.

Performance

Every driver, truck, customer and broker ranked on what matters: margin, on-time rate, payment speed and more. High revenue isn't mistaken for good business.

AI email triage

Rate confirmations, tenders, appointment changes, detention and payment questions sorted into the right workflow. Routine replies go out automatically.
